Tea, Teapots & more Tea

It's no secret that I love tea. This obsession is almost equaled by my fascination with teapots. A distant third is my constant delight with fluffy socks. (That's a whole other story - but who doesn't love fluffy socks?)

I'm not a collector by nature, and yet I find myself with a collection of tea from different lands and an equally diverse assortment of teapots.

The following meme essentially sums up my feelings on the subject (minus the fluffy socks):

Truth in a teapot

While I don't like to practice favoritism, I must admit that my favorite tea of all times is Genmaicha (Japanese green tea combined with roasted brown rice).

Most of my teas reside in a tea cabinet especially made for the purpose. Because of course, where else would you store tea? In a drawer?! Not nearly enough room.

For the overflow and for serving guests, a tea box:

Now for the teapots themselves. In no order of preference (trying to avoid favoritism, after all):

Classic Chinese dragon motif, tea party size:

Clay pots, beautifully decorated, sized for one or two tea drinkers:

Cast iron Japanese teapot that can double as a stovetop kettle:

A weighty option

This old but faithful also doubles as a stovetop kettle, and has saved us during numerous blackouts:

A trio of smallish teapots. The flat, oval one is probably meant for soy sauce, but I like it anyway.

Small but potent

I found this beauty in a thrift shop.

Ornate & heavy

As if I don't have enough teapots, I snatched this up the moment my neighbor put it for sale.

Sunshine in a cup

I now suspect there's a conspiracy to turn me into the infamous Crazy Teapot Lady. During a visit to family during the 2023 Christmas holidays, I received not one but four teapot gifts! I swear I didn't ask for any of these beauties:

I love the dragons!

  3. So lovely, your collection! You have treasures from when there was time to have a cup and a chat with our friends and neighbours during the day! Thanks for sharing! (Have to admit though, I’m a coffee drinker and drink my tea iced) I do enjoy a nice hot and flavoured tea during Winter occasionally.
