It's a Dog's Life

Chewing grass

Dogs are pretty amazing on so many levels. For those who have / have had dogs, you know what I mean. So it's tough when their time on this earth is finished.

Over the past year and a half, we've had to say goodbye to four faithful friends, claimed by old age. Each of them brought us a lot of joy and laughter, and more than a few "I can't believe you did that!" comments.

In honor of those spirits who have departed, I present our dogs.

Moca, the old lady of the pack and definitely the boss
(Dachshund - Miniature Pincer mix)

Mara, an elegant and refined lady
(Alsatian - Poodle mix)

Pluto, the gentle giant of the family
(Great Dane - Rhodesian Ridgeback mix)

Echo Eloquence, the wild child of the household
(
pure Great Dane)

And because a home without a dog doesn't feel right, we have since adopted this delightful Golden Doodle puppy. Introducing Marshmallow Theo Chicken Nugget (thus named by the nine-year-old who helped raise him for the first five months before we met him):

Mellow, for short, because he truly is a mellow pup
(Golden Retriever - Poodle mix)

Leash training begins

Joy!

We have lost two of our kitties this year so we are done to one silly cat James. He looks like Garfield and weighs 19.5 lbs. I'm sure he would eat lasagna if given the chance.

  2. I have a black bichon frise-poodle mix named Philip. He's 13 years old but still thinks he's a puppy. He's cute & he knows it!

  3. Would love to have a dog again but presently we make do with a black cat, Bella. She sleeps all day, often keeping my 96 year old mom company. Pets do make great companions

  4. My 3 Huskies and my hound are sending soft aroo-roos your way. It’s hard losing a pet. Their unconditional love is a wonderful gift. Chinooky da Husky and Sir Barnabus the finicky will be there to greet Echo. Sorry for your loss though happy for your gain! Mellow seems like he may be as mischievous as he is adorable!

    1. Thank you! Your dogs' aroo-roos are much appreciated. Yes, Mellow is showing his mischievous side now that he's settled into the home!
